About This Event
Registration closes Friday 9/2/22 at 12 p.m.!
During this field trip, participants will go on a walking tour of the Hub Farm, one of the only school system farms in the Southeastern US. We’ll meet the animals and learn about all the physical and institutional resources available at the Hub Farm while we explore the expansive space. We will spend some time in the garden doing a small task like harvesting or planting before we cook up a farm-fresh treat together! There will be plenty of time to connect with other educators and resources, and strategize about all the good ideas growing in NC.
Field Trip Details:
- Registrants will meet at the Hub Farm for parking:Â 117 Milton Rd, Durham, NC 27712.
- There are male/female restrooms on site with stalls.
- The site is ADA accessible up to a point – we have a sidewalk from the parking lot to our pavilion and to the barn. Beyond that, the ground is grassy and sometimes uneven, just like any farm or trail. If we do spend any time on the trail, it is mostly flat with some inclines, roots, and rocks. During the tour, we will be walking and standing for 30-45 minutes, but there will be chairs/benches located around the farm for occasional seating.
- The cooking activity will likely be in our pavilion (ADA accessible) or behind the barn (picnic tables in a grassy field).
Logistics: This workshop is limited to 20 in-person participants.
Please bring a water bottle and weather appropriate clothing for being outdoors. A change of clothes and sunscreen are recommended.
This field trip will be eligible for 3 hours of Criteria II/Continuing Ed for the NC EE Certification.
