About This Event

Methods of Teaching Environmental Education (MOTEE) is a 10-hour workshop designed to help practitioners create inclusive and age-appropriate learning experiences, gain group management skills, practice teaching methods to promote inquiry, and gain skills in designing objectives, lessons, and assessments for EE programs using NC Essential Standards as a foundation.

This workshop is for educators (formal, nonformal, and higher education) who want to learn more about:

  • Diversity of Learners
  • Creating the Learning Environment
  • Teaching Methods
  • Developmentally Appropriate Practice
  • Assessment
  • North Carolina Essential Standards

Format: This course will be a combination of independent online work and required group calls.  We will be using an online platform called Moodle for independent work and Zoom for the calls (video and call-in options).

Course Schedule:

January 11 - Access to online materials available

January 16 - 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. live Zoom Call 1 (Monday)

January 19 - 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. live Zoom Call 2 (Thursday)

January 23 - 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. live Zoom Call 3 (Monday)

January 26 - 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. live Zoom Call 4 (Thursday)

January 30 - 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. live Zoom Call 5 (Monday)

February 3 - All assignments due, close of course

Limited to 25 students.

Eligible for 10 hours of Criteria I or continuing education credit for the NC DEQ EE Certificate.

Registration: $20 for EENC members, $25 for general registration.
