Project WILD is a K-12 interdisciplinary conservation and environmental education program emphasizing wildlife. The goal of Project WILD is to assist students of any age in developing awareness, knowledge, skills, and commitment to result in informed decisions, responsible behavior, and constructive actions concerning wildlife and the environment. Participants will receive the Project WILD activity guide, containing 81 activities focused on terrestrial habitats and wildlife, and qualify for CEU credits and EEC Criteria I credits. The NC Wildlife Resources Commission covers the costs of the guides and the training making it free for participants.
Project WILD is one of the most widely-used conservation and environmental education programs among educators of students in kindergarten through high school. It is based on the premise that young people and educators have a vital interest in learning about our natural world. Project WILD links students and wildlife through its mission to provide wildlife-based conservation and environmental education that fosters responsible actions toward wildlife and related natural resources.
Participants of this 6-hour workshop receive the Project WILD K-12 educator guide along with materials specifically about North Carolina wildlife. The educator guide contains more than 81 hands-on activities that focus on wildlife and natural resources.
