The 15th Annual EENC Conference will he held in Columbia,
NC at the Eastern 4 H Environmental Education Center.
The Eastern 4-H Environmental Education and Conference
Center is located on the Albemarle peninsula near Columbia,
Plymouth and Edenton, North Carolina. Fronting on Bull's
Bay and the Albemarle Sound, the Center is only 60 miles
from the beaches of North Carolina's Outerbanks. The Albemarle
peninsula is one of North Carolina's finest natural and
historical treasures, with towns dating back to the 1600's,
five National Wildlife Refuges, two National Parks and two
State Parks all within easy driving distance of the Center.
The Center is located five miles from downtown Columbia,
home of the Walter B. Jones Environmental Center, Columbia
Theater, Palmetto Peartree Preserve, and the future Red
Wolf Preservation Center site. Historic Sommerset Plantation
and Pettigrew State Park are located nine miles from the
Center. Opportunities for canoeing and sea kayaking abound
on the Scuppernong and Alligator rivers as well as Bull's
Bay and Bunton Creek. The Center is in easy driving distance
of the North Carolina Estuarium in historic "Little"
Washington, North Carolina and it's neighboring Goose Creek
State Park.
Opportunities for birding and wildlife observation are
plentiful in the five wildlife refuges that surround the
Center.
From the East:
The Center can be accessed from the East by following Hwy
64 through Columbia to Albemarle Church Rd (the second road
to your right after crossing the bridge at Comumbia). Follow
Albemarle Church Rd 3.3 miles to Bulls Bay Rd. Turn right
on Bulls Bay and follow the signs to the 4-H Center entrance
(on the left).
From the West:
The Center is approximately 7 miles northeast of Creswell.
Follow US Hwy 64 East to Creswell, take Exit 558, Alligood
Rd. Turn right onto Alligood Road. Follow Alligood to the
intersection at the end of the road (3.2 miles) and turn
right onto Albemarle Church Rd. Follow Albemarle Church
1.5 miles to Bull's Bay Rd and turn left onto Bull's Bay
and follow the signs to the 4-H Center entrance (on the
left).
From Norfolk:
Exit Interstate 64 on Rt 104 which becomes Rt 166 and follow
it to Hwy 17 south. Take the Hwy 17 bypass through Elizabeth
City and continue on 17 through Hertford. Just before reaching
Edenton, turn left on Rt 37, following the signs to Columbia
and Plymouth. Continue straight as the road becomes Rt 32,
and cross the Albemarle Sound to Hwy 64. Take a left on
64 and tavel east to Creswell. The Center is approximately
7 miles northeast of Creswell. Follow US Hwy 64 East to
Creswell, take Exit 558, Alligood Rd. Turn right onto Alligood
Road. Follow Alligood to the intersection at the end of
the road (3.2 miles) and turn right onto Albemarle Church
Rd. Follow Albemarle Church 1.5 miles to Bull's Bay Rd and
turn left onto Bull's Bay and follow the signs to the 4-H
Center entrance (on the left).
From Edenton:
Take Rt 32 south out of Edenton to Hwy 64. Take a left on
64 and travel east to Creswell. The Center is approximately
7 miles northeast of Creswell. Follow US Hwy 64 East to
Creswell, take Exit 558, Alligood Rd. Turn right onto Alligood
Road. Follow Alligood to the intersection at the end of
the road (3.2 miles) and turn right onto Albemarle Church
Rd. Follow Albemarle Church 1.5 miles to Bull's Bay Rd and
turn left onto Bull's Bay and follow the signs to the 4-H
Center entrance (on the left).
From Little Washington:
Take Hwy 264 east out of Washington to Rt 32 (about 7 miles).
Follow Rt 32 to Plymouth and Hwy 64. Follow Hwy 64 east
to Creswell. The Center is approximately 7 miles northeast
of Creswell. Follow US Hwy 64 East to Creswell, take Exit
558, Alligood Rd. Turn right onto Alligood Road. Follow
Alligood to the intersection at the end of the road (3.2
miles) and turn right onto Albemarle Church Rd. Follow Albemarle
Church 1.5 miles to Bull's Bay Rd and turn left onto Bull's
Bay and follow the signs to the 4-H Center entrance (on
the left).
