About EENC

EENC is the professional organization for environmental educators in North Carolina. In October of 1990, the group was officially organized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

EENC is an entirely volunteer-run, membership-based organization. To meet the needs of smaller groups throughout the state, North Carolina is organized into three sections -- Western, Central, and Eastern. Section meetings and retreats occur throughout the year and culminate at the statewide Annual Conference

The Board of Directors meets quarterly to plan and implement programs that achieve the organization’s mission. The main funding source for operations comes from membership dues, with limited grant funding dedicated to particular programs or EE needs. In addition to this website, the key source of communication is the EENC newsletter, News Notes, published quarterly.

Each year, the Past President compiles an annual report providing a brief organizational overview including financial information and highlighting our major activities and achievements.

"It was nice to get together with other educators who have similar desires and passions about their teaching. It was uplifting to see that there ARE other educators like me!"
