Call for Nomination 2001-2002 EENC Board of Directors

Deadline is September 1, 2001

Environmental Educators of North Carolina seeks professionals willing to gain valuable leadership skills and experience while serving North Carolina's official state affiliate to the North American Association for Environmental Education. Through teamwork and consensus, the 15-member Board of Directors renders the organization's official decisions and is responsible for ensuring excellence in the field of environmental education through the implementation of EENC's Strategic Plan. As an EENC member, please nominate yourself or a qualified colleague today!

Complete and mail the official nomination form (postmarked) by September 1, 2001. All Board of Directors positions will be elected by the EENC membership via mailed ballot and announced at EENC's 11th Annual Conference September 28-30 at Camp Kanuga in Hendersonville, NC.

Important! Nominees must be current members in good standing. Nominees must inform their work supervisor, family, and/or college advisor of their intent to run for an EENC Board position, discussing the inherent time commitment and job responsibilities should they becom elected (4+ Board meetings/yr. and planning/conducting EENC's Annual Conference).

Board Officer Opportunities

President-Elect: The president-in-training substitutes for the President when necessary, provides support to Section Coordinators, trains to be President, works with the Treasurer to prepare and propose the budget for upcoming term, works with the Membership Committee in soliciting nominations for Board o Directors positions, and chairs a Planning Committee to organize and conduct EENC's Annual Conference. 3-year term.

Section Coordinator Opportunities

Central Section Coordinator: The field trip leader in the NC Piedmont organizes fun and educational outings for EENC members in the North Central, Central, and South Central sections of NC. The Central Section Coordinator resides in the Central Section, represents the needs & interests of EENC's Central Section members, and submits written progress reports at all Board meetings. 1-year term.

Western Section Coordinator: The field trip leader in the NC Mountains and Foothills organizes fun and educational outings for EENC members in the North Western and South Western sections of NC. The Western Section Coordinator resides in the Western Section, represents the needs & interests of EENC's Western Section members, and submits written progress reports at all Board meetings. 1-year term.

Committee Chair Opportunities

Communications Committee Co-Chair: The newsletter editor & designer publishes EENC's quarterly newsletter, works closely with EENC Webmaster, prints and distributes ballots, surveys, brochures, and special publications as necessary, and submits written progress reports at all Board meetings. 1-year term.

Membership Committee Chair: The member recruiter & retainer coordinates statewide membership drives, conducts re-recruitment campaign targeting inactive members in coordination with Secretary, updates & distributes the EENC Networking Directory, and conducts EENC's annual Awards Program. The Membership Committee Chair chairs the Nominating Committee that solicits nominees for the Board of Directors, assists the Communication Committee with preparing ballots and conducting EENC's annual election, and submits written progress reports at all Board meetings. 1-year term.

Education Committee Chair: The activity coordinator & supporter assists the President-elect in organizing and conducting the Annual Conference; assists and supports the Section Coordinators and Regional Managers in developing and coordinating regional environmental education activities; assists the Section Coordinators in planning and conducting a statewide retreat each year; acts as a liaison with other organizations regarding environmental education events and activities; coordinates the distribution of the exhibit(s) to EENC members for public display across the State; develops and/or evaluates environmental education materials, programs, and activities; and submits written progress reports at all Board meetings. 1-year term.

Resource Development Committee Chair: The coordinator for fundraising & donations researches, recommends, and implements fundraising strategies to the Board of Directors, investigates grant possibilities and writes proposals/applications as directed by the Board, investigates corporate sponsorships and reports recommendations to the Board, coordinates/conducts fundraising endeavors such as: "silent auction," t-shirt sales, philanthropy/funding partnerships, etc.; assists the Section Coordinators and Regional Managers in coordinating statewide fundraising events; and submits written progress reports at all Board meetings. 1-year term.

Partnership Committee Chair: The liaison to businesses & organizations outside of EENC represents EENC in all joint ventures, coalitions and partnerships which are beneficial to EENC including: The North Carolina Environmental Education Certification Program; is involved in the North Carolina Environmental Education Conference, Project Tomorrow Library Grants and bibliography, NAAEE requests, Teaming with Wildlife, multi-cultural partnerships, Environmental Federation of North Carolina, Business and Industry and all other cooperative ventures deemed reasonable or requested of the Committee by the Board; seeks new partnerships, which will ultimately fulfill the goals of EENC and submits written progress reports at all Board meetings. 1-year term.
