Environmental
Educators of North Carolina (EENC) is proud to offer five
(5) educators the opportunity to attend the Annual Conference
and receive a one-year professional memebership through
the generous financial support of EENC Organizational
Member, Environmental Media.
Nominations
are open for deserving educators of color (i.e. ethnic origin)
who demonstrate a sincere interest in environmental education
(EE). The EENC Diversity Scholarship funds up to $100.00
towards registration to EENC's 11th Annual Conference to
be held September 28-30, 2001 at Camp Kanuga in Hendersonville,
NC. The Diversity Scholarship can be used to offset the
full three (3) days conference registration fee up to $80.00,
which also includes one-year professional membership, valued
at $20.00, a total of $100.00.
The
purpost of EENC Diversity Scholarships is to ensure that
financial contraints do not prevent participation in the
Annual Conference and that this year's conference adequately
reflects the breadth and diversity of the EE field. It is
the belief of Environmental Media, EENC and the North American
Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) that when
equity is practiced by inviting diverse peoples to be seated,
welcomed, and accepted as full participants at the table,
a richer dialogue develops. The dialogue in EE will only
meet its full potential when a broad and intentionally considered
representation of all peoples is actively involved in the
planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of EE.
