The board of directors for Environmental Educators of North Carolina is elected by the membership and oversees the organization. Board members plan the annual conference, help develop partnerships, seek funding for the organization, manage EENC memberships, communicate EENC activities and news to the membership, and set and manage the annual budget for the organization. Section chairs organize section-specific events and help spread the word about the activities by members within their section. We have an all-volunteer board and 100% of our board members contribute financially to the organization each year.
EENC hired their first executive director in January 2018. The ED takes the lead on fundraising efforts, financial management, the mini-grant program, and represents EENC at meetings and conferences across the state and county. The ED also assists board members with strategic planning, communication, recruitment, event planning, and board development.
Our Executive Direcotor is a paid staff person who works to support EENC and the Board of Directors. Duties include fundraising, representing EENC's interests at meetings and the Southeastern EE Alliance, acting as a liason for the organization, and supporting the Board in building and communicating with the membership and offering the annual conference.
The current Executive Director is Lauren Pyle. You can contact her by e mail.
